Summary: Good chair for the price 2009-06-07
Comment: I received this chair as a gift. I think the chair is pretty comfortable. I use this for playing Playstation 3 and even watching TV/movies.
The armrests are weak, but the instructions advise users (1) not to pick up the chair by the armrests or to (2) push up against them to stand up off the chair. As long as you don't abuse the armrests, they should be fine. The bolts for the armrest are screwed into a wooden frame, which is why too much force will break the wood material underneath the leather. You will have to assemble the armrest assemblies yourself, but the Allen key wrench is provided. These armrests also swivel up so you can get them out of the way, if needed. Some "larger" users may find that the armrests are too confining.
The sound quality, to me, is rather good. There is a small built-in subwoofer in the backrest and you can control the bass level. The two side speakers give you a sense of surround sound, although the system is not a TRUE surround sound system. I don't have a entertainment system for my TV though so I am comparing this chair to the built-in speakers on my Samsung LCD HDTV. These speakers are better than the built-in speakers at least. I think the speakers are comparable to regular computer speakers with 1 sub and 2 satellite speakers.
I would recommend this chair to anyone who is looking for a modern-looking gaming chair for a decent price. I would not spend more than $120 for something like this though.
Comment: I like the design, been wanting to buy one. Asked my wife for this chair as a X-MAS gift.
Once we received it, it looks like it's going to be really comfortable. I've only been using it for 5-days but I find it not so friendly with my lower-back.
In addition, I noticed that the middle seat cushion is lacking. How odd, the side cushion has better padding than the middle one. Im not sure what the manufacturer was thinking but not putting extra padding in the middle is just asking for failure. Why is the extra cushion on both sides of the seat and not the middle is beyond me. Were they anticipating for 300lbs video gamer where the the butt-cheeks will be resting on the side of the seat cushion?! Not only the middle cushion lacks additional padding but there's not even anything under the seat for reinforcement! I can tell that a year from now, it will have hole in the middle and it will turn into an expensive potty-trainer/gaming-chair.
The sound is OK.
Look elsewhere...
